Upcoming workshops.

Over the course of the year we offer workshops for industry members. You’ll have the opportunity to earn professional development hours.

SPCC Training

October 23 | 11 a.m. | Zoom

Managing spills and staying compliant with regulations can often be time-consuming and challenging. In this class, we’ll explore the key requirements for facilities to develop, implement, and maintain an effective Oil Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan.

Preventing Direct Lightning Strikes

October 28 | 11 a.m. | Zoom

Lightning is one of nature’s most powerful and unpredictable forces, capable of causing catastrophic damage to people, facilities, and critical infrastructure. Each strike delivers millions of volts of electricity in a fraction of a second, and when it terminates on a structure, the results can include fire, equipment failure, costly downtime, or even loss of life. Because of these risks, lightning protection has long been a vital consideration in industrial, commercial, and communication applications. This presentation explores both traditional protection methods and advanced scientific alternatives, with a focus on the Dissipation Array System (DAS) as a proven approach to reducing lightning-related hazards.

Facility Design

November 6 | 11 a.m. | In-Person & Zoom

The design and operation of oil and gas production facilities is changing fast to meet the demands of new regulations and recommended practices from industry associations. Additionally, new regulations and industry standards are redefining the design and installation of equipment.

All facility design topics in this workshop will have a common theme focused on the promotion of cost-effective fabrication and construction strategies and techniques within the engineering design process. The following topics will be reviewed and discussed:

·  Modular facility design concepts for simple layouts, expansion, and prefabrication.
·  Regulatory compliant closed vent system designs for onsite liquid storage.
·  Application comparisons of bulk and test separation trains versus well specific separation trains.
·  Facility piping design specifications per applicable industry standards and recommended practices in relation to fluid service types.

Natural Gas Midstream and Marketing 101

December 4 | 11 a.m. | In-Person & Zoom

Natural Gas Midstream and Marketing 101 will introduce the functions of the oil and gas industry that involve the transportation, storage, and sale of oil and gas products. The natural gas value chain from wellhead to sales, typically involves three stages: upstream, midstream, and downstream. Midstream definitions and processes will be explained, while contract basics, settlement statements, and revenue lifecycle will be emphasized. Learn how gas is traded and marketed and how commercial contracts are strategized and negotiated.
