PetroTech Training Program.

The OERB’s PetroTech Program, offered in partnership with Francis Tuttle Technology Center, provides specialized technical training for individuals seeking the knowledge and certification needed to begin a career in Oklahoma’s oil and natural gas industry.

PetroTech is also an excellent resource for current industry professionals looking to enhance their skills, strengthen their résumés, or pursue advancement opportunities. The program offers full certification as well as standalone course options.


Program Tracks

The PetroTech Program offers multiple training paths tailored to your background and career goals.


Full Certification Track

This comprehensive track provides training across all major sectors of the oil and natural gas industry, including:

  • Geology Technician
  • Land Technician
  • Engineering Technician
  • Data Analysis

Ideal for individuals seeking a well-rounded understanding of the industry, this track prepares you for a wide range of technical roles.


Mini-Certification Option

If you prefer to specialize in just one area, such as Geology, Land, Engineering, or Data Analysis, you can pursue a mini-certification focused on a single technician role.

Two pathways are available:

  • Industry Professional Track
    Designed for individuals already working in oil and gas. Introductory courses may be waived based on prior experience.
  • New-to-Industry Track
    Intended for those new to the field. This option includes foundational courses to build the knowledge needed for success.

Program Overview And Attendance Policy features.

Evening classes are held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, making them convenient for working professionals. Each course lasts between four to six weeks, and the entire PetroTech program can be completed in as little as 10 to 12 months.

Attendance Requirements

In-person attendance is required unless prior approval for remote participation is granted. To request remote attendance, email [email protected] with an explanation of your circumstances.

  • Oklahoma City Metro residents are required to attend classes in person.
  • Tulsa residents may be eligible to attend via Zoom, pending approval.

Approved remote students must provide their own computer equipped with a working camera. Cameras must remain on for the entire duration of each class, and active participation is required.

Failure to engage consistently may result in the instructor reporting non-compliance to OERB, which could lead to removal from the program and a non-completion status for the course.

The OERB PetroTech program is a technical training program. This is not a job placement program, and the OERB is not responsible for career opportunities.
