Justin Byrne joined Canvas Energy in 2019 and serves as its Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, directing all of the company’s legal and land administration matters and providing commercial and executive leadership to Canvas in general. Previously, he was Associate General Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary at SandRidge Energy, and Counsel at Devon Energy and Kerr-McGee Corporation. He began his legal career as a private practitioner with a large regional law firm in Dallas in 2000 and has now served and helped lead independent Oklahoma oil and gas companies for over 20 years.

Justin holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Tulsa. He is a member of both the Oklahoma and Texas State Bars. He has served on a number of charitable and civic boards, including most recently as the 2022 executive chair of the Oklahoma City Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night.
