The people of Oklahoma Oil & Natural gas are giving more money for scholarships

The people of Oklahoma Oil & Natural Gas are increasing scholarship awards this year because the need has never been greater to help the next generation of energy leaders become gamechangers.

The Oklahoma Energy Resources Board (OERB), funded by the oil and natural gas industry, has made the decision to the significantly expand the scholarships they offer to students majoring in petroleum engineering, geology and energy management at Oklahoma State University, the University of Oklahoma, and the University of Tulsa. For the 2022-2023 academic year, both OSU and OU will make matching awards for a number of these of the scholarships. The awards are available to incoming freshmen through seniors and the amounts can be as high as $7,500, even more for certain students who qualify for the matches provided by universities.

Since 2005, the people of Oklahoma Oil & Natural Gas have provided nearly $5 million in scholarships. The goal of the program is to invest in our young people, our industry, and our state.

“These scholarships are only possible through the voluntary financial support of Oklahoma’s oil and natural gas producers and royalty owners,” said OERB Executive Director Mindy Stitt. “Education is a core part of the OERB’s mission and we remain committed to investing in the future of Oklahoma.”

Students can apply during each year of undergraduate work. OERB Petroleum Scholars also receive exclusive access to industry networking events and educational activities. The scholarship application period for the 2022-2023 school year is open until March 1st. For a list of criteria and to apply online, visit oerb.com/scholarships.

The OERB is funded by the more than 2,500 producers and thousands of royalty owners across Oklahoma through a voluntary one-tenth of 1 percent assessment on oil and natural gas production. The mission is centered around a simple idea: empowering unlimited opportunity for all Oklahomans. We are committed to the wellbeing and prosperity of all.
