OERB welcomes Justin Byrne to board of directors

OKLAHOMA CITY– The Oklahoma Energy Resources Board (OERB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Justin Byrne to its board of directors.

Byrne serves as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary at Canvas Energy, where he directs the company’s legal and land administration matters and provides commercial and executive leadership.

“The OERB sets a national example of the oil and natural gas industry’s commitment to serving our communities,” said Byrne. “I am honored to be a part of this mission and look forward to helping foster a brighter future through supporting education and land restoration.”

Previously, Byrne was Associate General Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary at SandRidge Energy and Counsel at Devon Energy and Kerr-McGee Corporation. He holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Tulsa.

Created by the Oklahoma Legislature in 1993, the OERB is funded voluntarily by oil and natural gas producers and royalty owners through a one-tenth of 1 percent assessment on the sale of oil and natural gas. The OERB’s purpose is to conduct environmental restoration of historic well sites and to educate Oklahomans about oil and natural gas. For more information, visit OERB.com.
