Pete Brown is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Petroleum Land Management (now Energy Management). He has served in professional and civic organizations throughout his career. Originally appointed to the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board in 1991, Pete is past chairman of the Board and has served on the public education committee, the scholastic outreach committee and the environmental reclamation committee. In addition, Pete has served on the executive committee and chaired the environmental committee, the scholastic outreach committee and the public education committee, and currently serves on the Board of Directors. He has made numerous “Petro Pro” presentations for OERB.

Pete is a past chairman of the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association (OIPA) where he served as a director and on the legislative, executive and membership committees. During his term as chairman of OIPA, he helped write the legislation and was co-founder of the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board. Pete has held the additional offices of secretary, treasurer and vice-president west of OIPA. He is the 1994-1995 OIPA “Member of the Year” recipient and was inducted into the “Wildcatters Hall of Honor” in September 2009. A member of the National Stripper Well Association, in 2018 he was honored as “Hero of the Industry” by the association.

Pete has served on the Board of Directors of the Independent Petroleum Association of America, where he served on the finance committee, and as Chairman of both the communications committee and membership committee. Governor Frank Keating appointed him to the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission where he serves on the communications committee. He is a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen and the Oklahoma City Association of Petroleum Landmen, and is the recipient of the 1991-1992 “Outstanding Landman of the Year” award presented by the Oklahoma City Association of Petroleum Landmen. Pete currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Energy Producers Alliance (OEPA). He is past Chairman of the Liaison Committee of State Oil and Gas Associations.

Pete has served as a lecturer for the University of Oklahoma Center for Business and Management Continuing Education and Public Service. He has been a guest lecturer for the Student Investment Fund of the Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma (OU). He has served on the Board of Advisors of the Price School of Business at OU and was instrumental in keeping the Energy Management program alive at OU. Upon graduating from the University of Oklahoma, Pete was employed in the land department of Cities Service Oil Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. After two years at Cities, he accepted a position with Getty Oil Company as a field landman based out of Oklahoma City. In 1969, he accepted a position as Division Land Manager of Inexco Oil Company in Oklahoma City and was subsequently transferred to Houston.

In late 1972, he entered into partnership with Gerald E. Borelli and together they formed Brown & Borelli, Inc., an exploration and production company located in Kingfisher and Oklahoma City respectively. Upon the passing of Gerry Borelli, Pete brought three new partners into the firm: Steve Altman, Joe Warren and Michael Price. Brown & Borelli, Inc. aggressively pursues oil and gas exploration projects in Oklahoma and Texas.

Pete met his wife Barbara while attending the University of Oklahoma, and they have three children and six grandchildren.
