Mark A. Aebi is Manager, Risk Management and Remediation for ConocoPhillips, based in Houston, Texas. In this position, Aebi heads a group of environmental professionals who are responsible for the global financial management of environmental risk and liability associated with current or former operations of the company or its predecessors. The group directly manages all aspects of potentially impacted sites in the U.S. Lower 48. Aebi began his career with Schlumberger oilfield services and worked in independent oil and gas production prior to moving into environmental consulting and then to environmental management within the oil and gas industry. He was employed at Conoco at the time of the merger of Conoco and Phillips in 2002. He has more than 30 years of progressively responsible experience in the oil and gas and environmental fields. Aebi graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering technology. He is a member of the National Society of Petroleum Engineers. Aebi is a former member of the Board of Directors for Port Everglades Environmental Corporation, Board of Directors of the Bartlesville Chapter of Oklahoma State University Alumni Association and the Technical Advisory Board to Bee County, Texas, College Environmental Technologist Program. He attained qualifications as a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager through the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management and Registered Environmental Manager through the National Registry of Environmental Professionals. Aebi serves as a member of the OERB Environmental Restoration Committee.
