Doug Johnson is a 40-year resident of Oklahoma who has committed his professional career in the oil and gas business to promote Oklahoma jobs and reduce dependence from foreign sources of energy. After graduating from Edmond Public Schools, Doug earned his Bachelor of Science in Geology from Baylor University. He then went on to the University of Oklahoma to earn his Master of Science in Geology. Doug’s expertise in Geology includes: reservoir evaluation and characterization including shale, carbonates and clastics, over-pressured reservoirs and high water cut reservoirs. Play recognition and execution, including multi-rig vertical and horizontal well execution, Oklahoma Basins including the Anadarko and the Aroma, additional basins, notably: Kansas, Permian, Williston, Powder River, Piceance, Michigan and Western Canada. Doug began his career in OKC with Grace Petroleum Corporation. He then worked for Manitou Resources Corporation, Lu-Ray Petroleum, before going to Chesapeake Energy as Geology Manager for Permian and Rockies and Director of New Ventures. He also worked for SandRidge Energy as Vice President of Geology and New Ventures before assuming his current responsibilities with BP (OKC & Houston) as Senior Vice President, MidCon Development. His professional experience has given him an extraordinarily strong expertise of the oil and gas industry. In addition to his education and professional geological experience in his 40 years of practice he has developed additional aptitudes in: business development, expert witness testimony, geophysics, land, operations, reservoir engineering. Doug is a well-respected industry leader who has been on the leading edge of innovations to take the industry to peak performance.
